After losing the toss (again!) and the opposition choosing to bat we reflected on the last fixture against these guys when they came to Rectory Park. They had 2 or 3 strong batsmen and rest were less of a worry from our perspective so the focus was on creating some pressure early on to get into the middle and lower order.

Step up Matt Ireland and Dan Wright with 10 tight overs between them restricting CdeB to 53 runs. The fielding was sharp too. The only blip on the CdeB start was a moment that didn't require snicko to get called; most of us were convinced we should have had one of the openers walking back to the clubhouse but the umpire could have been underground with the moles for all we know. Regardless, we soldiered on. Sam Little and Hassan Khattak were next up with Hassan breaking the deadlock having the opener chip one up for the delighted Jim Little to catch. #karma

Then it was the turn of Subhair Shah and debutant Qasim Arif to build on the momentum, and that they did in style. Qasim getting 2 wickets including that of a resolute opening batsman that was running out of partners. Subhair did the rest with 5 wickets for 24 runs, including 2 maidens. Well done Subhair! Great to see you back in the wickets.

With the bat Jey and Jim S got us off to a very good start. After Jey got stumped on 45, Jim Little went in to carry on with the good work in progress. Qasim replaced Jim Spence and hit some lovely shots, followed by Andy Neale opening his shoulders again helping us get closer to the target. That left Dan Wright to step up and finish things off again with some lovely boundary work.

Mission accomplished - we have now done the double over a side that got relegated from the division above last year. Closing the gap on them in the league as we did so. Excellent work!
