Social Media & Media Data Policy
1. Overview
Our cricket club uses social media to celebrate achievements, promote activities, and engage with the community. We are committed to ensuring all content is shared responsibly, with particular care taken to safeguard junior members. This policy applies to all players, parents, volunteers, and anyone creating or sharing content on behalf of the club.

2. Media Consent (Under 18s)
When registering with the club, parents/guardians are asked to provide media consent for junior players. Consent options include:

  • Full consent – images/videos may be used on club platforms
  • Limited consent – group images only, no naming
  • No consent – no images or videos used
  • We will always respect these preferences and review them annually.

3. How We Use Images and Content
We may use photos or videos for:

  • Match reports and results
  • Club news and updates
  • Celebrating achievements
  • Promoting club activities

For junior players, we:

  • Use first names only (or no names where required)
  • Avoid sharing personal or identifying information
  • Prefer group or action shots

4. Capturing Photos and Videos
Only approved individuals (e.g. coaches or designated volunteers) should capture content on behalf of the club.
Content must:

  • Be taken in appropriate settings (e.g. matches, training, events)
  • Never be taken in private areas (e.g. changing rooms)
  • Show players in a positive and respectful way

5. Publishing Content
All content shared via official club channels is managed by authorised administrators. Before publishing, we ensure:

  • Appropriate consent is in place
  • Content is suitable and respectful
  • Junior safeguarding guidelines are followed
  • We do not tag or directly identify junior players on social media.

6. Communication with Junior Members
We do not support direct one-to-one messaging between adults and junior players. Communication is carried out via:

  • Group messaging (including parents/guardians)
  • Official club channels

7. Personal Use of Social Media
Members are expected to:

  • Represent the club positively
  • Avoid inappropriate or offensive content
  • Respect other members and the club
  • Individuals should not present themselves as official club representatives unless authorised.

8. Data Protection
All images and media are stored securely and only accessed by authorised individuals.
We handle personal data in line with the UK General Data Protection Regulation.

9. Reporting Concerns
If you have any concerns about images, content, or social media use, please contact the club committee or safeguarding officer.
We will take appropriate action, including removing content where necessary.

10. Policy Review
This policy is reviewed annually to ensure it remains up to date and effective.
