Losing the toss meant being put in to bat by Walmley. Mr Little and Mr Spence gave us a good platform that we should have built more upon but again we came up short with the bat. Something we need to rectify and I for one will be working on making improvements in this area. Walmley gave us 35 wides so our total of 202 was already looking short of a few. Sammy Little and Harry Matthews were probably the two standouts in a lacklustre batting performance on a less than inspiring wicket.
With the ball we gave away far less than they did. Matt Ireland was the pick of the bunch with a wonderful five-fer - well done Matt!! (5 wkts, 1 maiden and an econ rate of 2.7!) Henry Eustace , Sammy Little and Charlie Dale-Harris taking a wicket a piece.
In the field we did pretty well, especially as we were down to 10 for a good chunk of the afternoon. Spring Lane as we know holds a few surprises in the outfield as well as in the track but we fielded well and took some good catches. We did let a few slip by and they could have changed the game. Our intensity wasn't quite where it should be but wasn't far away either. A few little tweaks and we will be back to winning ways.
Lets look to fine tune things this weekend and get some more points in the win column.
