After a big loss to local rivals Streetly last week. Sutton 2nd Xl travelled to Ambleside CC - Ambleside had a perfect record whilst Sutton suffered there first defeat last week.
Sutton CC we’re looking for a positive reaction and response to show the maturity of the side which is grown over the years. Sutton CC won the toss and decided to bat first on a glorious sunny day for cricket.
Spencer GN and Elliot Needle started with a 100 partnership, Elliot got out on 37 whilst Spencer got to 77. Number 3 Regan Beamish ended up unbeaten on 70* whilst Ollie GN chipped in with 34. Sutton ended up on 267-6 of the allotted overs.
Ambleside responded well with Sam Neale getting to 83, also contributions from Jack Chapman 35 and Matt Purdy with 28*, wasn’t enough as Ambleside were bowled out for 196 of 45 overs.
Brilliant bowling again by Nadeem Ahmed 10-1-28-3 chipped in with Tom Hurley 6-2-16-2 and others to get a comfortable win by 75 runs.
Sutton CC play newly promoted Aston Unity next week at home, which should be another test of character for the 2nd Xl.
