Following last week's first ever female hardball game for Sutton Coldfield & Kings Heath where U11 Girls played Olton & Warwickshire at Tudor Grange Academy, the same team made history for the 2nd week in a row by playing the first ever SCCC girls' hardball at home.
The girls put all their effort into a great game taking 7 wickets from an experienced Harborne side in the opening innings who set a strong target of 112. Wickets included 3 in a row in the final over with a mixture of run-outs and bowled outs throughout the innings.
SCCC & KH Girls started with a score of 35 for the 7 wickets and added to the pressure with singles and twos from all girls and boundaries from Mahnoor and Ahana. Some very determined running saw runs added to the score board including many dives from Hafsa ensuring she got to the crease before the ball hit the stumps. It ended with a final ball thriller after Beccy from Kings Heath scored a quick single in the penultimate ball to level the net scores at 132. The final delivery resulted in no runs and so the game was tied 132-132 with SCCC & KH 97/4 and Harborne 112/7 off 16 overs each.
What an amazing end to such a historic occasion.
